Hi all - happy Saturday! Have you worked with families/youth who benefited from diversion or Option B on felony offenses? Would you or they be interested in sharing a story with legislators? Unfortunately - I'd hope to connect this weekend or Monday a.m. if possible. I think we have shared there is a bill this session - SB 5296 - that is about trying to ensure youth have appropriate opportunities to stay in community instead of go to JR. Judges would have to make a finding that a sentence to JR would be necessary - and the bill adds a review hearing mid-sentence, allowing reassessment and keeping youth connected to sentencing courts and community.
